STUDENT VISA · GENUINE INTENTIONS RECORD

Study Plan and Genuine Intentions Statement

ApplicantLin Zhiyuan(林知远,虚构示例)PassportE92341876
Date of birth18 September 2002Current cityGuangzhou, China
ProgrammeMaster of Information Technology, 180-point taught pathwayProviderThe University of Auckland
Planned start1 March 2027Planned length18 months of full-time study

1. Academic background and preparation

I completed a Bachelor of Management in Information Management and Information Systems, where I built a foundation in database design, statistics and business process analysis.

My degree was awarded by South China Normal University, and the academic record submitted with this application shows the courses and grades on which this statement relies.

I graduated on 30 June 2025 and have used the period since graduation to strengthen Python, SQL and data-governance practice through structured projects and entry-level work.

My current strength is translating operational questions into data requirements. My remaining gap is the systematic design, delivery and evaluation of production information systems, especially where technical decisions must remain understandable to business stakeholders.

2. Why this programme and provider

I chose the Master of Information Technology because its combination of technical study, complementary professional skills and an industry internship connects directly to that gap. The University of Auckland's 180-point pathway is a logical progression from my information-systems degree: it allows me to deepen software and data capability while testing those skills in a supervised industry project. I selected New Zealand for a focused period of postgraduate study in an English-speaking academic environment, not as a substitute for a clear course decision. I will follow the programme and visa conditions stated in my enrolment records.

Study pathway

  1. Phase 1 — consolidate postgraduate technical foundations and select approved technical courses that extend my database, programming and systems-analysis background.
  2. Phase 2 — combine complementary skills courses with preparation for the required industry internship, focusing on requirements discovery, delivery documentation and measurable project outcomes.
  3. Phase 3 — complete the supervised industry internship, finish all approved programme requirements and document what I learned about reliable information-system delivery.

Funding and practical arrangements

My parents, Lin Guoqiang and Chen Meiling, will fund my study from accumulated salary savings. For the first study year, the family has set aside NZD 82,000 to cover the tuition amount shown in the final invoice, at least NZD 20,000 for living costs, insurance and outward travel. I will provide current bank records, income evidence and relationship documents so the source and availability of these funds can be checked. Any later-year payment will follow the updated university invoice and Immigration New Zealand requirements then in force.

Future direction and home circumstances

Career plan

After completing the programme, I plan to return to the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area and seek an information-systems or data-product role serving manufacturing and logistics teams. My goal is to apply the programme's technical and project-based learning to data-quality, workflow and delivery problems in organisations whose operations I understand.

Home ties

My parents and grandparents live in Guangdong, and my long-term family responsibilities and professional network are based there. I will leave New Zealand before my visa expires unless I lawfully obtain another visa, and I will comply with all study and work conditions while in New Zealand.
