Course content. Abstract data types; asymptotic analysis; arrays, linked structures, stacks and queues; trees, heaps, hash tables and graphs; sorting and searching; greedy methods and dynamic programming; implementation trade-offs and complexity testing.
Assessment. Written examination 55%, programming assignments 30%, laboratory performance 15%.
CS2206 · Computer Organization and Architecture

Course content. Instruction-set principles; data representation; processor datapaths and control; pipelining and hazards; memory hierarchy, cache mapping and virtual memory; input/output systems; assembly-level analysis and performance measurement.
Assessment. Closed-book examination 60%, architecture laboratory 25%, design report 15%.

CS3102 · Database Systems

Course content. Relational modelling and normalization; SQL query design; indexing and query processing; transaction properties, concurrency control and recovery; database security; schema evolution; team implementation of a transactional service database.
Assessment. Final examination 50%, team database project 35%, laboratory exercises 15%.

Course content. Requirements elicitation and specification; architectural and object-oriented design; version control and review; unit, integration and acceptance testing; continuous integration; risk and configuration management; iterative delivery of a web-based team project.
Assessment. Team software project 45%, individual examination 40%, peer review and technical documentation 15%.
